Job Description:
1. Designs limited enhancements, updates, and programming changes for portions and subsystems of systems software.
2. Analyzes design and determines coding, programming, and integration activities required based on specific objectives and established project guidelines.
3. Identifies and debugs issues with code and suggests changes or improvements.
4. Participates as a member of project team of other software systems engineers and internal and outsourced development partners to develop reliable, cost effective and high quality solutions for assigned systems portion or subsystem.
5. Collaborates and communicates with internal and outsourced development partners regarding software systems design, implementation and issue resolution.
6. Understands, estimates and implements requirements working with team lead / architect / product manager for new features considering functional and non-functional aspects.
7. Collaborates with team members to review feature design and provide meaningful feedback.
8. Collaborates with test engineers for reviewing test cases and scenarios.
9. Collaborates with documentation writers to create and maintain product documentation.
Candidate Profile:
Qualifications: Bachelors or Masters Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent.
Experience: Typically 3 - 5 years experience.
Required Skills:
1. Strong design skills with deep understanding of object oriented programming
2. Strong Java programming skills with experience in developing multi-threaded modules
3. Deep experience using debugging tools, including runtime debugging
4. Good understanding of web services (SOAP / REST), HTML, CSS, JSON, XML
Desirable Skills:
1. Knowledge of basic and advanced design patterns
2. Experience using Hibernate, JDBC, SQL programming and DBMS concepts
3. Experience working on enterprise-grade solutions
4. Deep understanding of best development practices
5. Experience of agile development methodologies such as SCRUM
6. Experience of Test Driven Development practices
7. Knowledge of Secure development lifecycle and pertinent tools
8. Experience using unit test frameworks such as JUnit
9. Knowledge of Linux Operating System and related tools
