Role and Responsibilities:
- Execute detailed Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) studies as per ISO 14040 & 14044 to evaluate the environmental impacts of Eaton electrical products followed by 3rd party verification to publish type-III Environmental Product Declarations (EPD) with the support of Engineers.
- Support the development of modular LCAs & creation of a library of Eaton standard components & processes.
- Support the product engineering teams on the calculation of greenhouse gas emissions associated with the electrical product’s lifecycle.
- Support evaluation of compliance in accordance with applicable eco-design-related regulations (e.g. EU-ErP Directive)
- Understand customer requirements and communicate with other Eaton teams.
- Provide regular reports on development and support activities.
- Support Design-For-Environment activities for new product development projects.
- Contribute to continuous process improvements to increase productivity and efficiency.
Required Skills and Qualification:
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or Chemical/Mechanical/ Electronics /electrical engineering.
- Bachelors with 0-3 years experience in the areas of Sustainability domain, Product or technology development for Industrial, Electrical/Electronic, or Chemical products or processes.
- Need to have sound fundamental engineering knowledge.
- Has a basic understanding of requirements related to eco-design regulations.
- Has an understanding of Life Cycle Assessment standards (ISO 14040/44/25)
- Has experience of conducting LCA as per the specific rules as (ISO14040/44/25). LCA according to PEP-EcoPassport Product Category Rules/ Product Specific Rules will be bonus.
- Demonstrates LCA modelling using software like EIME (preferably), SimaPro, Sphera/GaBi, OpenLCA or any similar software.
- Demonstrates understanding related to goal & scope definition & Life Cycle Inventory (LCI) data requirements.
- Can analyze LCA results for hotspots and support interpretation.
- Communicate the LCA impacts to internal and external stakeholders.
- Basic understanding on REACH, RoHS, Prop65, and other applicable regulations and their impact on product and technology will be an added advantage.
- Comfortable dealing with data and Microsoft office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
- Good verbal and written communication skills including the ability to effectively explain technical concepts.
- Good judgment, time management, and decision-making skills.
